Why Nykaa Mattelicious Lip Crayon?
If you love lipstick, then you would understand why people collect so many at a time.
You would realize why brands come out with different formulas, shades, and lipstick packaging every few months.
Even when everything was rationed during the world war, only lipstick was the only cosmetic thing that was readily available.
Even in such a grave time government understood the power of a lipstick bullet to boost the morale of women struggling at home. So when I tell you I tend to collect all forms of lipstick available in the market, or at least stare at the pictures online until I possess them, then I hope dear reader that you shall not judge me.
Nykaa Mattelicious lip crayon is one of the many lipstick formulas they have launched in the past years.
They keep launching lipsticks for every budget, liking, and style. This one, in particular, comes in a crayon type.
Many other brands like Lakme, Maybelline, etc. have their crayon varieties as well. So let’s see what has Nykaa done differently this time.
My Lips
Dry like the Thar Desert. I kid you not. I drink gallons of water every day, take my vitamin supplements, and even clean my lips thoroughly before sleeping.
I apply lip balm religiously, and still, when I wear any matte lipstick, it just cracks immediately. Has that stopped me from buying Nykaa matte lipsticks? NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What is the cost and shelf life?
The cost of the lipstick is Rs. 699 for 2.8 Gms of product. The shelf life of the lipstick like all Nykaa lipsticks is three years.
But as you can see in the pictures its size in my hand, I don’t think it would last long if you use lipstick like me regularly.
How is the Packaging?
Unlike other lip crayons in the market, it’s not a twist-up version. It’s a sharpenable variety and comes with its sharpener in the package.
This is a plus for customers because you don’t have to buy a corresponding sharpener for it separately although there is some product wastage while sharpening, but its way more hygienic than twist up version because you are shaving off the top layer which accumulates microbes and dust generally.
Another good reason for having a sharpenable variety is that you can get a precise application every time.
The crayon is black with color-coordinated bottoms for easy identification. There is nothing fancy about it, but this simplicity makes it so convenient.
What are the Texture and Fragrance?
There is no noticeable fragrance. But the texture is very different. It glides on the lips like a creamy lipstick but becomes a semi-matte within a few minutes.
It’s not entirely matte or completely creamy but somewhere in the middle.
I can compare it with the Maybelline powder mattes, but it’s just a bit moose like in texture. It’s one of the best formulas of lipstick that Nyka has come up with.
It sits very comfortably on lips but better to exfoliate first as it can accentuate texture on the lips.
What is the Shade range?
There are 17 shades in the range currently. And the shade range in these lipsticks is very varied.
There are many exciting shades and the usual reds, plums, and nudes. But each color is so true to its name and has such high impact color impact that I was thoroughly impressed.
I like this range, especially for the nude shades it offering. You can find the perfect nude shade for yourself in this range.
I have the shade Lacy Luck.
It’s one of their most popular and best-selling shades. The shade is gorgeous. It’s a peachy brown shade that will flatter all skin tones.
How is the Application?
The pigmentation is insane. Just one swipe and you get the maximum deposit of color on your lips.
It’s saturated that I don’t even have to go in for a second swipe. The color is just so pure to what you see in the packaging. It just glides on the lips so effortlessly.
Doesn’t cling or tug at your lips like other matte formulas.
The crayon tip makes it easy to apply, and the advice is not that pointed but can be precisely used.
I love that you can sharpen it every time you have to get a precise application, which makes it so much convenient.
What is Longevity?
They are very long-lasting, and on my lips, they can easily last up to 5-6 hours with light meals and drinks.
Even with heavy, greasy meals, it will not come off immediately. It fades evenly and almost all at a time, so it doesn’t give you that ugly butthole lips.
It leaves a lovely stain behind that I love and feels very comfortable on the lips. It’s lightweight, so you don’t feel like wearing anything on the lips at all. The lipstick does tend to latch on to dry flakes on the lips after a few hours, so exfoliation is a must. It does transfer a bit, but nothing drastic.

Final thoughts
I would highly recommend the Nykaa Mattelicious Lip Crayons. Its formulas are worth the investment. I would also recommend watching online real-time swatches because the swatches on the website can be quite misleading. If you find the price too high, you can always find them on sale on the site.
