If you are a lipstick lover, then you are going t love Nykaa’s collection. They have everything from classic bullet lipsticks to glosses, crayons, and whatnot. Some of them are my go-to formulas and some… well, you know not every brand is perfect. But, you have to give it to Nykaa to launch new products after products almost every month to suit every budget and need for a beauty lover.
So when this range of lipstick was launched, I was a bit intrigued. I follow Nykaa and many other beauty brands across the world on their social media very closely because let’s put it mildly…I am obsessed with beauty products. So let me tell you when I say I know some drama I do.
The Nykaa Creamy Matte Lipstick was heavily publicized for its affordability and wearable shade range. But people didn’t fail to notice its eerie similarity with another favorite cult brand of lipstick, the Maybelline creamy mattes. They are the OG creamy matte formulas that were launched years ago. And coincidentally, Nykaa has also put the same price tag on this lipstick as the Maybelline lipsticks.
Some influencers (not sponsored ones) openly called out Nykaa for this. But to be honest, if a homegrown brand wants to compete with an international brand to occupy that niche in the beauty market, customers shouldn’t complain as much. As long as the quality of products is delivered and either party involved has no complaints, it’s all fine. So, let’s not blabber anymore and get to the review.
My lips are dry you all, like very dry. No matter how much lip balm I apply, the moment it leaves my lips, it becomes dry gain. In cold winters, I kid you not, I could grate cheese on it, and it’s that crusty. Anyways, the bottom line is any product that is hydrating on my lips is always welcome.
What is the cost and shelf life?
When I bought the lipsticks, they were Rs.299 each for 4.2gms of product. But you can always find it on some ongoing sale for much cheaper.
How is the Packaging?
The packaging is so cute. The lipstick clasps tightly, and there is minimal chance of accidentally opening. The packaging is all plastic and color-coded. There are horizontal rings on the cap, and the shade name is written at the back of the tube. There is no outer packaging; it came to be wrapped in plastic cling film. The bullet is a traditional lipstick bullet. There is nothing fancy about the packaging, but its fun and quirky, easy to travel, and color-coordinated.
What are the Texture and Fragrance?
Have you tried the Nykaa So Matte lipsticks? Then you will find the formula of the creamy mattes similar to that. It’s creamy to the point that it glides like butter on your lips.
There is a mild fragrance to it, just like other Nykaa lipsticks. I guess it’s their signature lipstick scent. The fragrance is sweet and is not disturbing or irritating to the skin at all. The texture is very creamy. It’s like a lip balm almost Reminds me of the Masaba collection by Nykaa.
It’s very similar. But it does become sort of demi-matte after a while. The creamy matte texture is a little different from the Maybelline formula, which has a matte appearance but creamy feel. This lipstick feels creamy and has a little bit of sheen to it.
What is the Shade range?
Nykaa tends to come out with the conventional shades of colors that everybody needs and wants. There are no crazy shades like purple, black, or even an orange color in this range. Everything is just everyday wearable shades. You can easily find a nude, red, and pink of your liking. The target customers are mostly college-going students, office workers, and people who love to wear lipstick daily but don’t want to be too dramatic. I have got three shades currently.
Shade- Walk the walk
The shade is described as deep pink, but on my lips, it looks a nude mauve color. Its pigmented and will look good on light to medium skin tones.
Shade- Bon Appetit Baby
The shade is orangey-red color. Its quite fun color and well pigmented as well. It will suit fair, as well as dusky complexions.
The shade is a vibrant plum color with pink undertones. It will suit medium to dark-complexioned beauties easily.
How is the Application?
The application is so smooth that it glides on the skin so effortlessly. The pigmentation is on point with a one-stroke color payoff. I find some of the lighter shades need to be swiped across several times to show their true color. The thing I like the most about the lipstick is that it makes your lips look so juicy and plush.
It gives your lips almost that cushion-like feel. The lipstick is also very hydrating on the lips. It doesn’t accentuate the fines lines or dead skin on the lips. But if you want to have those juicy and plump looks to your lips, then you should exfoliate first.
What is Longevity?
It’s very moisturizing and balmy so that it will transfer. Some of the lighter shades will come off immediately after having a heavy or oily meal. However, some of the darker shades will leave a faint stain behind, which I don’t mind. I like the lippies, which leave some stain behind.
These lipsticks don’t fade unevenly and aren’t patchy at all. With a few drinks and light snacks, it lasts a good 4-5 hours on my lips. Nykaa, as usual, makes some of the best lipstick formulas; hence for the price, the quality is not bad at all.

How to apply lipstick correctly?
You need to prep your lips first for a flawless application. Exfoliate the lips with a good lip scrub, and they apply lip balm or Vaseline for a few hours. Then you can apply any formula of lipstick flawlessly.
How to have the perfect pout?
First of all, you don’t have to feel pressured to have those Instagram worthy pouty lips. You can, however, enhance your natural lip shape to look more delectable by outlining it with a lip liner close to your natural skin tone or some flattering nude shade. This will give your lips definitions and that pout, which doesn’t look like duck lips.
How to use lipstick differently?
Lipstick is so multifunctional, but sometimes it’s just underestimated. You can use it for your eyes, lips, and cheeks as well. Use it as a stain or add a flush of color to your cheeks.
