Maybelline lipstick- Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Matte Lipstick Review

The packaging is the standard of Maybelline lipstick cases. There is a brown translucent cap over a silver tube. The lid fits snugly so that it doesn’t open easily, even if you carry it around in your bag or pockets. The shade name and number are written on a sticker at the bottom of the tube. The sticker corresponds to the actual color of the lipstick; hence it’s easy to find a particular shade if you own multiple Maybelline lipsticks from this range. The packaging is not flimsy and very sturdy; therefore, the chances of breakage are minimum.

I am not a fan of matte formulas in lipsticks. I understand they are more long-lasting and transfer-proof, but they always dry my lips like a desert. The removal of this Maybelline lipstick is a tedious job. I only opt for them on special occasions; otherwise, I often wear the traditional bullet lipsticks on a day to day basis.
This is a creamy matte formula, which means it is not as satin as ordinary lipsticks, but it’s not as dry as the pure matte lipsticks as well. I find matte lipsticks might look relatively flat on the lips and give it no dimension, but this provides a comfortable feel and specific cushiony texture to the lips.
This Maybelline lipstick has a balmy feel that glides on smoothly. On the first swipe, it might look matte, but after two-three layers, it gives a very slight sheen. It doesn’t accentuate dry patches on the lips either does it dry out them. There is a mild vanilla smell to it but nothing major. It vanishes almost immediately.

Siren in Scarlet- It’s a blue-based red color which will suit almost all skin tones. This is one of those true red shades that everyone should have in their beauty bags. It’s often compared with Mac Ruby Woo lipstick, which is a cult favorite. But that formula is very matte and drying on the lips, whereas this lipstick is very moisturizing. It gives opacity in one swipe. 

Touch of Spice- As the name suggests, it has warm spicy, earthy undertones to it. The color can be described as a rosy- nude shade, but it has more brown in it than pink. It doesn’t read too purple on the lips and is perfect for everyday wear or some 90’s glam. It will suit every skin tone and a must for people who wear subtle nude shades every day. It will pair up beautifully with a Smokey eye makeup as well.

Vibrant Violet- This shade is one of the so-called “unconventional” shades. It’s not for the faint-hearted and will instantly grab attention. The purple shade is slightly darker, so it makes it wearable. It won’t come as neon on any skin tones but n darker skin tones it might come across as a rich plum- fuchsia shade. I love this shade with a fresh face as it just draws attention on its own. Use it whenever you need to amp up your attire for the day.

You can use lip liners if you want to but I have had no issues with any of the colors bleeding. These are very comfortable formulas that don’t smear but transfer a bit. They glide on comfortably and can be used as just a stain or a full-blown lip color. You can easily mix two or more shads as the standard formula will don’t make them look patchy when mixed.

As this Maybelline lipstick is a creamy matte formula, the lipstick transfers a bit when you eat or drink. But the best part is it fades naturally. The color payoff is on point and hence never fades off in patches. Some of the darker shades leave a subtle stain behind, which can easily be removed with some micellar water. On my lips, it stays for a good 6-7 hours with light meals and drinks. It layers beautifully as well so you can touch up whenever you want.
