Why Nykaa Glow Getter- Illuminating and Highlighting Duo 24K?
Highlighters hold a special place in my heart. I love a glowy and dewy look which my skin naturally gives as I have oily skin. Still, I enhance it at targeted areas on my skin to emphasis on the glow a bit more. I must tell you, though, I am not a fan of those blinding metallic highlighters.
I have tried a few, but I can’t go overboard with them. Some people pull off the “strobe look,” but I always end up looking like a disco ball, and that is too unflattering. Sometimes, I still have my shining moments when I have the mood, but generally, I go for the subtly highlighted look.
I wouldn’t say I like highlighters with chunky glitter particles in them. When Nykaa launched the Glow Getter- Illuminating and Highlighting Duo. I wanted to try them because they had two shades in one packaging. I love the idea of creating custom shades from pallets. So I bought the one that suited my skin tone the best. Let’s see how highlighted I felt after using it.
My Skin
I fall into the fair skin category. I have warm yellow undertones, and when using highlighters, I don’t gravitate around cool tones; they would look like white or pink shiny strips on my cheeks, and nobody wants that unless you are going for a specific look.
What is the cost and shelf life?
The cost when I bought is was Rs.699 for 9gms of product. It is fit to use up to 18 months after opening the product.
What are Company Claims?
How is the Packaging?
The packaging is the same as the Nykaa Blush Duo. It has a sleek square packaging made up of sturdy plastic. It has a magnetic enclosure which shuts it very tightly. Hence, it’s very travel friendly. I have dropped it several times, but there is no sign of breakage yet. The front is transparent so that the product is visible. The shade names are written on the back of the packaging.
What are the Texture and Fragrance?
I hadn’t experienced any fragrance even when I first opened the case. The Nykaa Glow Getter- Illuminating and Highlighting Duo 24K product itself is hard-pressed, so I didn’t see any significant fall out during application. The texture is the best part of this highlighter. It is finely milled and has no chunky glitter particles in them. The highlighter doesn’t accentuate any fine lines or pores but looks so natural. It just melts with the skin and looks like a light radiating from the surface when appropriately blended. Initially, it might appear just sitting on the skin, but after a while, it just settles on the skin beautifully.
What is the Shade range?
There are two shades available. The 24k glam is more suited for fair to medium skin tones, and the Glitterati shade is more suited for deeper/duskier skin tones. There is another palter called moonshine, which has a contour and highlighting shade created to be universally flattering.
There are two shades in the 24k glam palette- warm gold and pure gold. The pure gold is more of a change in gold color. The warm gold has peach and bronze undertones to it. For my skin tone, I use a mixture of both or layer them. It just looks so natural on my skin if I don’t overdo it.
How is the Application?
It is suggested to uses a brush for even application. Please don’t use your fingers as it won’t have the best effect. There are no massive particles in it, and on the application, it might look a bit patchy. You might also have to build it up with several layers. But I don’t mind it.
It’s better to add more products on your face, especially with makeup, then try to remove it. It’s a buildable formula, and once you get the right highlighting effect, you can spritz some setting spray. This will further make the highlighter pop.
What is the Longevity?
On my oily skin, it lasted a good 5-6 hours. It didn’t feather or transfer to different parts of my skin. Although it fades after a few hours and it’s not transfer-proof. Still, it didn’t have any significant difference after a few hours. It always looked glowy and dewy at the end when I am about to take it off. With a good setting spray and mattifying primer, I think it will last a good 7-8 hours on my skin.

FAQs
Where should a highlighter be applied?
Highlighter should be applied to the high points of the face where the light naturally hits first. Just move your face in front of the mirror in natural light and see which part catches the light the most.
Those are the high points of your face. Typically they are your cheekbones, the brow-bone, bridge of the nose, and cupids bow. You can also apply highlighter just above the eyebrows to give a dewy look.
Which is better/liquid or powder highlighter?
For a more natural look, you can use a liquid highlighter. It is easy to blend with your fingers. Powder highlighters are suitable for a more intense look.
How to choose a highlighter?
You can use powder, cream, or liquid highlighter as per your preference. But for deeper skin tones, use a more yellow/ warm-toned or gold highlighter. Other, it will look ashy and chalky on the skin. For lighter skin tones, use a more cool-toned or more luminous highlighter.
Final thoughts
The formula is so buttery smooth that I fell in love with it. If you are looking for a blinding highlighter, it may not be the one for you. It gives that subtle natural glow and even can be built up for a more glam look. It is value for money as well because there are two shades available in one pan. You can mix and match the shades to create your highlighter shade to suit your needs. I would highly recommend this for beginners, especially as they will have better control while enjoying highlighting without looking like a disco ball.
